Welding Operator Job Summary
We have an immediate vacancy for a highly qualified welding Operator. In this role, you will work on internal projects as well as travel to client locations to fulfill job obligations on-site. Your daily responsibilities will include reading requirements, laying out metal components, cutting, fabricating, and welding them together to form tools and other metal parts. We want our welders to complete each task within a certain deadline. Our ideal applicant has at least one year of welding experience and a solid understanding of common welding tools and processes.
Welding Operator duties and responsibilities:
- Reading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a project
- Sourcing the materials to be used in the project
- Measuring and cutting materials to specifications
- Welding materials using the correct materials to join the metals together
- Checking finished work to make sure that it falls within the tolerances marked on the blueprints
- Weld parts in flat, vertical, and/or overhead positions
- Conduct tests to check weld quality, including hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance
- Utilize industry tools and equipment, including powered saws, hand shears, chipping knives, portable grinders, hand files, and scrapers
Welding Operator Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of professional welding experience preferred
- MIG Welder Certification through the American Welding Society a plus
- Working knowledge of industry tool and equipment
- Able to read blueprints
- Proficient in basic math
