The CDL A Truck Driver is responsible for transporting goods and materials over long distances using a commercial vehicle with a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Responsibilities:
- Transportation and Delivery:
- Operate a commercial vehicle with a Class A CDL to transport goods and materials over long and short distances.
- Ensure the safe loading and unloading of cargo, securing it properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Deliver goods to customers or other locations as instructed, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules, taking into account traffic, weather, and road conditions.
- Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection:
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, checking for mechanical issues, tire pressure, fluid levels, and other potential problems.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the maintenance team or supervisor.
- Ensure the truck is clean, well-maintained, and compliant with all safety and regulatory requirements.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation laws and regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to transportation, safety, and cargo handling.
- Use appropriate safety equipment, such as seat belts and safety gear, at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of driving hours, mileage, and inspections as required by law.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate logs of driving activities, including delivery times, routes taken, and rest breaks.
- Complete all required paperwork, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and inspection reports.
- Communicate with dispatchers and supervisors regarding delivery status, delays, or any issues encountered on the road.
- Customer Interaction:
- Provide excellent customer service by delivering goods in a professional and courteous manner.
- Interact with customers upon delivery, obtaining necessary signatures and documentation.
- Address and resolve any customer concerns or issues related to deliveries.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a CDL A Truck Driver, with a minimum of [X] years of driving experience.
