Position Summary: Six Flags Over Texas is seeking a creative and detail-oriented intern for our Costuming Department! The position reports directly to our Costuming Operational Supervisor.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete all sewing, construction, repair, and laundering tasks as assigned by given deadlines.
- Quality control of the appearance of Characters, Show Performers, and other Entertainment Team Members.
- Clean and maintain upkeep of a variety of specialty costumes.
- Have costuming skills, including sewing, patching, and stain removal.
- Utilize the inventory system for all costumes and props and assist with load-in/out of all Special Events.
- Transport costumes to and from off-site Character appearances as needed.
- Communicate any Costume Shop and Laundry needs to Costuming Supervisor.
- Operate in a safe and efficient manner at all times while holding safety to the highest regard.
- Keep all areas clean, organized, and sanitary for all Guests and Team Members.
- Follow all Park policies and procedures and maintain all Six Flags standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must:
- Be part of a CTE or Fashion Design Program.
- Have basics of hand and machine sewing.
- Have Basic knowledge of acceptable care guidelines for varying fabrics/costumes.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to non-disclosure agreements.
- Build a garment from a pattern using knowledge of fabrication and construction.
- Make alterations to create revised costumes in tight timeframes.
- Complete day-to-day fixes and launder used pieces in a timely fashion.
- Be punctual and have a good attendance record.
- Be able to work in all outdoor conditions for extended periods of time.
- Be able to stand, walk, crouch, bend, stoop, kneel, lift, push, and pull up to fifty pounds.
- Be professional, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and work well with others.
- Be able to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
