The Middle School Teacher is responsible for delivering subject-specific instruction to students in grades 6-8, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment. The teacher designs and implements lesson plans, assesses student progress, and collaborates with parents, colleagues, and administrators to promote the academic and personal growth of students during a critical developmental stage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state and district curriculum standards in core subjects such as English, mathematics, science, social studies, or other subject areas.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, including direct instruction, group work, hands-on activities, and technology integration, to engage students and accommodate different learning styles.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Implement classroom rules and procedures to manage student behavior effectively and ensure a safe and productive learning space.
  • Address behavioral issues promptly and appropriately, using positive discipline techniques and promoting self-regulation among students.
  • Assess student learning through various methods, including quizzes, tests, projects, presentations, and formative assessments.
  • Provide regular and constructive feedback to students to help them understand their progress and areas for improvement.
  • Provide individualized support to students who need additional help, including those with learning disabilities, English language learners, and gifted students.
  • Guide students in developing organizational, study, and time-management skills that are essential for success in middle school and beyond.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field with a concentration in the subject area taught (e.g., English, Mathematics, Science).
    • Teaching certification or licensure for middle school education in the state of practice.
  • Experience:
    • Previous teaching experience at the middle school level is preferred, though entry-level positions may be available for newly certified teachers.
    • Experience in specific subject areas or grade levels may be required depending on the position.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of subject matter and middle school curriculum standards.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Effective classroom management skills to create a positive and orderly learning environment.
    • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills for planning lessons, grading, and managing classroom activities.

Working Conditions:
