Retail Sales Associate

The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for cultivating and advancing sales within a designated geographic area. We further looking for a candidates who plays a crucial role in providing customer service, driving sales, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify new business opportunities and make sales calls to existing accounts, targeting customers in the Industrial and Protective & Marine markets.
  • Gather accurate customer/territory data and assess each customer's potential.
  • Develop strategies to expand business with customers and pinpoint products or categories needing special attention to support these strategies.
  • Create a weekly sales plan and conduct sales calls as scheduled.
  • Assess the customer's stage in the sales process and determine necessary steps to advance the process.
  • Perform product demonstrations to aid the sales process.
  • Support customers' application needs.
  • Identify sales leads and follow up on leads provided by store or facility staff as appropriate.
  • Manage customer complaints within authority limits and oversee the resolution process.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist Store/Branch Manager in resolving product supply issues.
  • Conduct customer surveys.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for an employment visa.
  • Must be able to retrieve materials from shelves and floor stacks and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of business-to-business sales experience.
  • Preferably, experience as a Commercial Branch Manager or Sales Rep with proven success in a large territory, or comparable non-industry Sales Rep experience.
  • Ability to travel (including occasional overnight stays) as needed.
  • Ability to maintain discipline in pre-call planning and monthly activity to maximize time and execute the territory SherPlan.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Protective & Marine products, Industrial Flooring products, application methods, market dynamics, and trends in the coatings industry.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete surface preparation and floor coating applications.
  • Proficient in using sales excellence methods for sales calls and time management.
  • Ability to evaluate growth and improvement opportunities and establish a strategic direction considering resources, constraints, and organizational values.
  • Proven success in conducting outside sales calls on commercial and wholesale accounts to build new business and increase existing business.
  • Excellent wholesale customer service skills, including problem-solving and handling customer complaints within authority limits.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, including professional presence and confidence with customers.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to constantly sit, stand, hear, and see.
  • Must be able to frequently walk, write, and type.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
  • Must be able to occasionally bend, carry, reach, push, and pull.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • May work indoors and outdoors, with exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.
  • May work in areas requiring hearing protection.
  • May work with toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials.
  • May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
  • Work surfaces may include concrete.
  • Must tolerate non-toxic paint odors and wear a respirator as needed.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
  • Some travel to other locations, meetings, and seminars is required.
  • Must be licensed and able to operate a vehicle per state laws, as travel is a significant part of the job. Must be able to demonstrate paint and related products using various delivery systems such as spray guns and related equipment.

Travel Requirements:

  • 30% travel required.
